Fatal Officer Involved Shooting At Nursing Home: Pennsylvania State Police

A man was shot dead by a police officer inside a Central Pennsylvania nursing home, state police and the York County coroner announced on Thursday afternoon.

The fatal shooting happened at Rest Haven Nursing Home at 1050 South George Street in Spring Garden Township at 12:48 p.m. on May 2, according to the York County Department of Emergency Services.

PSP Troop J York was called to the scene of the shooting at approximately 1:12 p.m., as stated in a release by Trooper James Grothey. 

York County Coroner Office released the following statement about the deadly shooting:

"[The York County Coroner's Office] confirms an adult male has died at WellSpan York Hospital after a reported police-involved shooting at Rest Haven York. An autopsy will be scheduled. PSP York is investigating. No additional details will be released at this time."

"The shooting has been contained and there is no danger to the public," Grothey said. 

Troop J Major Case Team is conducting the investigation.
